I didn’t grow up eating many figs – mostly I just enjoyed snacking on Fig Newtons. I’m pretty sure I never tasted a fresh fig while I was a child. I have a few memories of buying fresh figs at specialty markets as a young adult, and while I definitely enjoyed those, nothing compares to my first time trying a fig freshly picked.
