Last month, an awesome guy named Warren came out to the farm to interview us and take shots for this really cool TV show he makes called The Eastern Alternative. The show is all about people living in Atlantic Canada and why they stay here rather than leave. In Warren’s own words, “Every other day you hear or read another depressing article about the Atlantic Provinces and the out migration of people in search of economic opportunity. Well, this show’s purpose is to tell the stories of the people that are here, why they’re here and what they are doing […]

Right now, we’re planting (both direct-seeding like in the picture above and transplanting seedlings we’ve started in the greenhouse), weeding, mowing, preparing beds, covering crops with row cover, starting more seeds in the greenhouse for future plantings, harvesting and more. We’re basically trying to catch up to where we’d like to be at this time of year. The weather hasn’t made it easier. Our last frost was 2 weeks ago but last week it went down to 2 degrees Celsius and fields had frost just a 15 minute drive from us. We’ve got a beautiful cover crop of rye. It’s […]

In late August last year, 5 cool guys from Paris, France showed up on our farm to create a travel food episode for their TV show Taste Hunters. The show was hosted by young chef Benjamin Darnaud (with other episodes hosted by chef Jerome Bigot). They have been travelling around the world looking for “Food Rebels” and good food! While in Canada, they visited our farm as well as Ferme Tournesol in Quebec. They brought a whole bunch of interesting high tech equipment like cameras, a sound mixing system and this drone below which takes shots from above. It’s like […]

Taste Hunters from France: what did they see ...

Sometimes we get interviewed for various reasons by various people. And neither of us find it particularly easy to say the right thing at the right time. Or say witty or funny things at the perfect moment (but of course, we can think up good ones later….). And sometimes people ask us the same questions but get a very different answer, depending on the day, the weather perhaps, our mood most definitely, and the conversations we may have had right before then. So really, each interview or story can only capture a specific moment in our lives. Well, here are […]
